Battle royale genre hit the market in 2017 with such titles as PUBG and Fortnite. Major game developers decided to join the race as soon as it became clear that multiplayer shooters are the future of competitive gaming. Electronic Arts haven’t announced anything right until the release of Apex Legends™ in February 2019. They contracted Respawn Entertainment to transfer the Titanfall series into Battle Royale and became one of the major titles within several days.
Features and Functions
Apex Legends™ is based on gameplay mechanics and setting of Titanfall 2, including hi-tech armor and weapons. During one deathmatch 60 players divided into 20 teams of 3 collide on a massive map. Unlike other games in the genre, it lets you select a hero with unique skills before entering the pool. It also involves the original ping system that serves communicational purposes. Instead of traditional voice chatting, you have to use a list of symbolic commands to draw the attention of teammates and coordinate them. The leader of a team is always a random person, so you have to trust him or her and move forward. Solo play is not prohibited, but it’s usually less productive.
Similarly to Fortnite, Apex Legends™ is free and offers you to purchase loot boxes, and battle passes. However, they don’t affect gameplay balance. You can avoid cosmetic improvements and remain highly competitive.
Every character in Apex Legends™ is extremely powerful and deadly if you know how to apply its traits. Unfortunately for Titanfall fans, large mechs, Titans, were removed from the game because they didn’t match battle royale pace. Fortnite Season 10 negative experience with mech proves it.
The first season presented 8 playable character classes with multiple skins and custom items, but developers intend to release a new one within every next season. Updates come out every 3 months, so you don’t have chances to get bored. The third season is scheduled for 1 October 2019.
This 1st person shooter is available only for top platforms, including PC, PS4, and Xbox One. That’s why it has incredibly high-grade graphics. It’s surprising, but everything you will see is powered by an old Valve’s engine, Source, that gave us such retro hits as Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike: Source. Similarly to Titanfall, Apex is an extremely fast-paced shooter with multi-dimensional freedom of movement. You can run on walls, jump over buildings, and shoot while in air. You must try it if you’re not enough with difficulty of PUBG and Fortnite.
Apex Legends™ is a unique battle royale that offers you to master sophisticated FPS gameplay through several character classes and hardcore challenges. You can get it for free right now on Xbox Live, Origin, and PlayStation Store.
